We now have museum-quality art canvases and prints by one of our artists, Sadie Maskery, available on ArtPal:
https://artpal.com/RedOgreReview
These are cool, and the artist shares equally in the proceeds.
We're now offering art prints by Scottish artist Sadie Maskery.
These are hybrid word art / collage pieces with a modern fantasy flair.
A note on our chapbook series. We've finalized our first round of selections.
We have some absolute gems in the works.
We're keeping all submissions open for now, though, since we might - might - have room for a few more.
In the meantime, our October issue is open for poetry and visual art:
Our August issue is live!
https://ogre.red/issues/2023-08/2023-08-introduction
With this issue, we trended back to how we started the zine: no prose, but a lot of poetry, with some visual art that ties in conceptually to the verse.
Our April issue is live!
https://ogre.red/issues/2023-04/2023-04-introduction
This issue leans into our literary roots with a number of pieces incorporating sci-fi and fantasy elements, critical theory, and absurdist humor.
#Poetry #Art #WritingCommunity #ScienceFiction #Fantasy #CriticalTheory
Our April issue is nearly full!
We have 3 slots left for poetry, prose poetry, and visual art.
If you've already submitted, as usual, absent an express decline email - we roll over submissions to the next reading period.
Exciting news - Kate, one of our founding editors, has just launched a new zine in our group of projects.
The first issue is live. Please take a look!

And the next issue will be open for subs soon. Poetry, flash, and visual art.
Fundraising for indie presses can be tough, so we're excited to partner with Givebacks @GivebacksGenie.
Givebacks is a shopping rewards program that automatically donates at no extra cost to your purchases.
If you're familiar with the now-defunct AmazonSmile program, it works much the same way. The merchant donates a % of the purchase automatically.

For a fun kind of weekend side project, we just launched Grim Tales Radio, an online radio station for classic fairy tales:
Narration by a text-to-speech AI.
Please be patient while the site loads. It uses a lot of photos along with the audio stream.
And if you really like it, feel free to tip us a buck or two for server time & fees. Donation link at the bottom of the page. 😃
Our April issue is now open for submissions!
https://redogrereview.submittable.com/submit
Poetry, prose poetry, visual art and hybrid forms.
Stylistically, we prefer detail-focused descriptions, natural language, and often longer pieces.

After a few days of giving our site a top to bottom code cleaning and polishing, the site now pulls a perfect score on Lighthouse benchmarks.
Most of the time dependent on network speed, etc., and not that those benchmarks are too meaningful - but nice to see!
One of the reasons we went with a custom-coded static site.
Our February issue is filling up!
By request, we've extended the deadline a little longer:

Now is the perfect time to send something along.
Poetry, visual art, or hybrid forms. Pop culture themes would be particularly welcome.
Alan Gillis, Professor of Modern Poetry at Edinburgh University, says about the collection:
"Oisin Breen is writing at a pitch few other poets of his generation can muster. These are tremendously exciting poems."
We agree.
Looking for something to read?
One of our authors, Oisín Breen, has just published a new poetry collection with Beir Bua Press:

Thinking about publishing a chapbook next year?
We just posted the submission guidelines for our upcoming 2023 chapbook series:
https://redogrereview.submittable.com/submit/245157/chapbooks-speculative-experimental-poetry
We're looking for speculative and experimental poetry, prose poetry, and hybrid forms.
We are thrilled to say that the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers Association has approved us for a grant to fund a project we've wanted to do for some time, a series of single-author chapbooks.
More details on the way as we firm up our planning over the next several weeks.
Ahead of time, if you have an idea for a chapbook, or know someone who might be interested, it's not a bad idea to make a note to keep us in mind.
This mug features our banner image, a Gustave Doré illustration from an 1862 French version of the Puss in Boots fairytale. Specifically, the scene where the cat gets into a battle of wits with an ogre sorcerer.
